The city announced that the project — which includes a new boathouse, kayak rentals, playgrounds, an all-season skating ribbon, splash pad and a river overlook — will receive the U.S. Department of the Interior grant funding as part of a $46.7 million pot being shared across 10 community-led park projects from California to New Jersey.

“The Birdland Park and Marina Master Plan is an iconic and game-changing project in our park system, and we’re thrilled to have federal support,” Mayor Connie Boesen said in a news release.
